Like free music? Me too. Here’s some, from me to you. Enjoy!
Right click and “Save As” to download sets. They’re large files (100MB or so), so saving is probably more reliable than streaming, plus you can uplinkify it to your spaceship movie phone or whatever the hell it is you kids are using these days.
And while I’m talking about the future, you should know that it scares me, so I hold on to the past all GI-Joe/Kung Fu Grip style. That’s why I refuse to play anything but vinyl. Am I a snob? Absolutely. Unreasonable? Perhaps. But the point is, unless otherwise indicated, all sets posted to this site are 100% vinyl. Does it matter? Probably not, although you can rest assured you won’t have to listen to low-res mp3 hiss for an hour… any extraneous noise is pure analog “character”.
DiBo - The Iceberg Metaphor Jazz/Funk/Soul: This is my most recent recording and in some ways, I think it’s my best. It’s really more a blend than a mix and I’ll admit that a few of the transitions could be smoother, but frankly, this one is about the music, not the DJ. Mellow, thoughtful and inspiring… at least to me.
DiBo - Perspectives Downtempo/Chill: This is a pretty mellow set from 3 or 4 years ago… I recall being in a pretty introspective place when I recorded this, which I suppose is plainly evident without my saying anything. Anyway, this one is expressly not for dancing, although if the urge strikes you, well, that’s cool too.
DiBo - Moodswings Downtempo: This is the first downtempo mix I ever recorded and, not coincidentally, it’s also the mix I put the most time into. I went so far as to place a bunch of samples from Waking Life on top and blended the Chali 2na acapella from Soulive’s “Doin’ Something” over one of the mixes. There’s even a clip from The Graduate… one of my favorite movies ever! Can you say MILF? I know I can!
DiBo - First Time Out Downtempo/Midtempo: I recorded this set to prepare for my first DJ gig. I then proceeded to play it exactly, in its entirety and, I venture to guess, almost identically to how it’s presented here. Regardless, I still dig the music… hope you do too!
DiBo - The Bedroom Executive Downtempo/Midtempo: I recorded this well before I started playing out when most of my attention was still focused on creating promo mixes and all that jazz. Great for cocktail hour and other such activities.
DiBo - Scatterbrain Midtempo/Disco/House: Another somewhat recent set and, as the name suggests, this one is all over the place… Radiohead to open followed by some groovy midtempo, classic disco (fav’s from the Risco Connection and Herb Alpert) and a side of house to round things out. A great set to start the night!
DiBo - Some Records I Played (Because They Sounded Good in my Head) House/Disco: This is one of my more recent sets and is a pretty good representation of what I do when I’m playing to a loungy place with a dancefloor rather than a club. The first half delves into some classic house tracks while the last bit takes a brief tour of all things disco. Everywhere from Naked Music to Sugar Hill Records to a lovely Tangerine Dream cover/remix… definitely an eclectic boogie set. Enjoy!
